Precipitation hardening material for casting mold for continuous casting

Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a precipitation hardening material for a casting mold for continuous casting having a specified low electrical conductivity, superior strength, elongation and toughness at high temp., by specifying the compsn. of a Cu alloy consisting of Cr, Zr, Al and Cu. CONSTITUTION:A Cu alloy consisting of, by weight, 0.3-1.0% Cr, 0.1-0.3% Zr, 4.1-5.0% Al and the balance Cu is subjected to soln. heat treatment and aging to obtain a precipitation hardening material for a casting mold for continuous casting having a low electrical conductivity of 30-15% IACS, superior strength, elongation and toughness at high temp. The material is especially suitable for use as a material for a casting mold provided with an electromagnetic stirrer and used to continuously cast steel or the like.
